ok.. i have.. about 20 things plugged into outlets (strips) in my room.. obviously this is not good for the house, or the devices.... whats my best bet for splittin things up... right now im guessin my dorm room will have... 4 total plugs for me to hit... UPS, or just surge protectors? power conditioners (those are spensive) btw, i really get nailed, cuz about half of the plugs are WIDE (ie, phone charger, speakers... etc)

they make lots of surge protectors specifically for stupid bulky plugs these days

from my dorm experience, it was rare that we ever lost power. but the twice we did i was damn glad i had my UPS

i wouldn't worry too much, just get some surge protectors that around about 20-30 bucks apiece....the cheap ones are, well, cheap, and if you care about your equipment , you'll see the worth in the expense

considering all 4 plugs in the dorm will be on the same line, it isnt going to make much of a difference.

I don't know if any stores sell them, it says "Cyberguys exclusive" on the page...

They also have double ones...if you really want to load up those power strips! ;)

I was at The Good Guys the other day, and they had these $250 outlet strip things from Monster Cable (ok, can you say "ripoff") which claim to be a solution for the HT outlet strip "problem".. I wonder if anyone here's tried them?

Edit: found a link

It depends on what you plug into it. If I plugged in my cordless phone and my alarm clock I would not even think twice about it. If I plugged in 2 McIntosh 1000 watt mono block amplifiers into it I would be asking for trouble.
