to make a long story short, I am logged in win 2k pro sp1 as a power user, i accidentally logged myself out as admin and cant for the life of me get back in.
I tried all the pws and login names i would have used to no avail.
Anyways, I wanted to do a fresh format and install with win 2k and possible use ntfs.
specs are
p2 350 @ 392 (woohoo 😉 )
azza mainboard
v3 3k
western digi 10GB hd
2 partitions c: = 2 gig d: = 8gig fat 32
farallon 10Mbps ehternet
sb live!
256 pc100
I mostly play games and found this OS completely stable for my aging system. would NTFS benefit at all?
and, please can someone list steps to format from scratch with win 2k sp1 ?
thanks a bunch

or, is there a way to accurately see what the name of the admin is of this thing, cause than i would definitely know the pw, i only use one..all the time.

Unless you changed it, Win2K defaults to "administrator" for the login.

I don't think so, whenever I log out (or restart) my user name shows up, not administrator.

KGBMAN is correct, the default is administrator. However, during the install process you are given the opportunity to create a new user account for yourself.

So, try the administrator account (the password was set during the install unless you changed it).
