Safe to use solder on Duron 700?

Hi,

I wanna connect my L1 bridges on my Duron 700, i used the method of pencil but it keeps wearing out which might be leading to not being able to overclock it much. I want to solder it but my problem really isnt with connecting bridges together, rather the heat involved.

Will the solder applied damage the cpu because of heat? How about when the cpu gets hot, will the solder turn back to a liquid state or it never gets that hot in that area?

If a CPU gets hot enough to melt solder...nevah hoppen. The processor would die way below the melting point of solder. There are aces at microsoldering who could PROBABLY do it...but I don't think so. I've seen silver pens recommended for this job, ~$20. Auto supply stores sell stuff that re-connects broken traces of the rear window defroster "grid." Supposed to work real well, and it's cheaper than the silver in a pen is.

I asked this last week. Here's the thread. Don't know if there's any info in there you might find useful. I ended up getting an already unlocked Duron so I didn't need to worry about it.

its safe to use solder but its very hard to do !

The pencil trick either works or it doesnt work! it wont work but limit the speed u can get, once the connection is made thats that

I wouldn't go as far as to say that its *safe* to solder, but it can be done successfully. There are other alternatives though:
* Defogger repair kit
* Pencil
* Conductive pens
