I recently lost my charger for my laptop. The charger was rated 18.5V and 3.5 AMP, 65W.

I came across a replacement adapter that is 19V and 4.74A, 90W. It fits and it works, but Im afraid I might be slowly degrading my laptop battery or laptop using it.

I googled it and some web pages/ebay auctions list my laptop as compatible and some do not list it on their compatibility list.

It should be fine! ;)

If you put a meter on it, you'll probably find out the output voltage is actually, like, 14V volts or whatever... That's been my experience with wall adapters.

As long as the polarity is correct, the plug for the mobo is the right size, and so forth, you shouldn't have any problem...

You can always increase the amperage on an AC adapter without issue. Voltage however, not so much. With that said, most devices can tolerate a slightly higher voltage than rated. In your case, 0.5v higher is nothing to worry about you'll be fine. :)
