I intend to run a E4300 at around 3-3.2ghz if i can... but my old Enermax 465VE with 32A on the 12v single rail has only a 4pin cpu connector...

The Asus P5k mobo that I have ordered has an 8pin cpu connection... Some1 said that i might be able to run the board with only a 4pin cpu connector... but I wonder if i will be damaging the board by using only the 4pin or not? I wouldnt like to spend another $100 for a new PS..

Update:

I just opened my case and was checking my power supply: enermax eg465P-ve.

Now the rail where my 4pin 12v or cpu connector comes from has 3 smaller cables coming from it: the 4pin 12v connector marked as '12V', another regular 4pin (does not look same as the 12v connector) marked as 'EXTRA' and a weird looking connector marked a 'AUX'

From that Extra connector i thot maybe there exists a 4pin to 4pin 12v adapter which can be connected in order to support my p5k 8pin cpu connection... and a quick google search gave me this from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/P4-12V-4-P...44QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

That connector will fit into my power supply and in the mobo i guess... since board is not here yet... but it should fit.

What do u guys think?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I wouldn't. Btw, loving mine so far, but only sitting @ 3.0 ghz.

Just found this on excaliburpc: http://www.excaliberpc.com/Asu...artinfo-id-579376.html

Internal I/O Connectors:

3 x USB connectors support additional 6 USB ports
1 x Floppy disk drive connector
1 x IDE connector
1 x COM connector
5 x SATA connectors
1 x CPU Fan connector
2 x Chassis Fan connector
1 x Power Fan connector
1 x IEEE1394a connector
Front panel audio connector
1 x S/PDIF Out Header
Chassis Intrusion connector
CD audio in
24-pin ATX Power connector
1 x 4-pin ATX 12V Power connector
System Panel(Q-Connector)

I feel stupid.... I almost bought a new $100 power supply today.... now supposing the excalibur website has the right listing and no errors... I won't even need an 8pin cpu connector, but only a 4pin... thats what happens when u listen to plp throwing stuff or making stuff up in forums... jesus :)
I have to wait till tomorow when my motherboard arrives to confirm if it has an 8pin or 4 pin cpu connector.

Maybe they thought i was talking about the p5k deluxe instead... and i just checked the p5k dlx on excalibur... and it lists it with 2 x 4pin 12v power connectors... Phieww what a relief... Hopefully I wont need a new ps after all

Peace
