Safe to Delete Folders?

I have just finished installing XP Pro on a new system and I noticed two folders that are just numbers and letters with a sub folder named Sp2. If you try to view them, access is denied. They appear to be 0 byte files. Anyone know what they are and if it is safe to delete them?

Not found in google. Here are the two folders (directories).

and

They are probably backup folders due to the updates you made post installation, i.e., service packs. When you install the service packs, there is an option to backup system/file settings, and you must have chosen that. I would just leave them in tact.

These appear to be uninstall infor for varius updates/hotfixes you have performed (as there is no Service Pack 2 for Windows XP yet). I would leave them alone, in case the updates later cause problems, you will be able to uninstall them properly.

When I installed XP I saw directory?s like that to in root of my drive after doing updates. I was going to delete them but they disappeared after a while. I think there temp dir?s. I think there safe to delete. If you think it might break something just move them first and then delete them if it doesn?t break anything and if it dose break something you could just move them back.
