Are these files actually needed, or are they just the junk left over after updating Windows 2000 with SP1?

They're taking up 127 MB.

Your emailed subscription updates are being returned to us with the error message,

Reason: <thirdkind@codebloat.com>... Relaying denied

These returns clog our mailbox. Please contact your email provider to correct this problem, and please do not subscribe to any more threads until your email is working correctly.

the \WinNT\ServicePackFiles folder IS NEEDED

It is kept there so you dont need to reinstall the Service Pack everytime you install a program that installs new system files.

Me thinks Stefan is right, the directory you can delete is the un- install directory, can't remember its name though.
