I have a biostar m7ncd 400 nforce 2. also, Kingston pc2700 512mb. i managed on the default voltage to a 2500 barton to a 3200 (2205ghz). my temp is 45C running an application such as the GuildWars world preview. other wise when it is idle it runs at 36-37C. i was wondering if it would be safe for me to continue.

yes, it's safe. ur temps are normal dude. start worrying when your idle temps are 50+ degrees C. the barton 2500+ is the exact same chip as the 3200+ except for the bus speed settings.

you should try running prime95 to test the stability if you are doing anything important on it, as it may seem stable most of the time but actually be unstable. p95 will also heat up the processor to the maximum temperature it will reach doing anything, so you will see what the full load temperature is.

If you want to see if your cooling is sufficient, get CPU Burn-IN... it doesn't actually test for stability it simply runs your temps to the moon.
