Hello, I want to purchase a Viewsonic VP912B 19" LCD monitor from Dell. Is it safe to do this, and I heard from someone else that if you have a problem with it, Dell will go on ahead and ship you a replacement monitor even before you ship your defect monitor back. Is this true? Thanks.

Yea go ahead. If you get a faulty one just complain and you will get a replacement.

I don't know what their exact policy is, but I believe that within the first 21 days you can return for any reason. Within those 21 days they'll send you a new replacement if the one you recieved is/was faulty, afterwards (within the warranty period they offer) they'll send you a refurb replacement. I'm pretty sure they send the replacement before you have to send yours in.

Thats how they treat Dell branded, and I believe the only thing that would change with non-Dell ones is the warranty period.

I think it is in their policy to send first as I have sent monitors and CD-RW/DVD-ROMS back to them and they shipped our company a new one first. In fact I even told them that a 17" CRT was broken by us accidentily and they still shipped us a new one, pretty good service if you ask me (another one of the reasons why I don't understand why so many people seem to hate Dell).

Yeah, Dell is a great company. Just because I wouldn't buy an XPS from them doesn't mean that they are a bad company.
