Safe to buy computer parts on ebay?

Can anyone with experience give some advice on buying computer parts on ebay? I use Ebay often but never have I used it to buy computer parts.... Any tips or help would be much appreciated :)

yeah its pretty safe when precautions are taken. Just make sure you ask all the questions, check the feedback of the seller. Good luck.

ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING on ebay is buyer beware. Read the full auction description and if the buyer doesn't back the item against being dead on arrival then don't buy it. 99 times out of 100 the item is still cheaper on Newegg, though.

Aside from that, our own FS/FT forums are much better than you'll find on ebay and you don't have to deal with the hassle of bidding.

Make sure you read the entire auction page before you buy from anyone. I've sold broken parts -- marked broken in the page but not in the title -- and people paid close to what the working parts went for. Remember that some parts sold on eBay are also refurbished but sold as new. Watch out for those sellers selling computer parts that say all items are sold "AS IS". That's a red flag so buyer beware!

i've gotten out of buying stuff off of eBay...it is definitely different on there than it was even 2 or 3 years ago...

you can find some killer deals on computer parts in Anandtech's For Sale/For Trade forum :)

I only get fishing equipment off of ebay. I dont trust anything else offa them.
