Safe temperature for an 800 mhz T-bird?

I just stuck a chrome orb on my 800 mhz athlon & KT7-RAID motherboard (After filing down the edge a tiny bit. Stupid cramped board..) and according to its built in sensor, it runs at roughly case temp while idling, but as soon as I load up a game it quickly picks up heat. I've usually stopped once it hit 50-52C, and the temperature quickly went back down again. How hot _are_ these things supposed to run, anyway?

Well my T-bird 900mhz is at 42C right now,always stays under 50C(even under heavy gaming) using Taisol heatsink/fan, yours goes into the fiftys anyway try some case 80mm fans I`ve two,also 90C in theory is what a T-bird can handle but in the real world keep it at 60C or below & you should be fine.

Which Taisol model do you have? And do you know what fan model you have on it? You can see the fan model number by taking the clips off and looking on the underside of the fan.

My CEK733092 (the $11.30 one) has a Delta AFB0612HA, which according to Delta site is a 16.6 CFM fan. Taisols' site says this HSF has a 21.19CFM fan, so I wrote Taisol today to find out.

Got a reply from Taisol already....they said the fan in the two 1.1gig HSFs is specially designed by Delta for Taisol, and is 21.19 CFM

My Thunderbird 800 MHZ couldn't boot using the Golden ORB. I did fit it in but it didn't work out. Then, i pluck my fren's pentium fan in my CPU. It is running but the CPU temp is at 80 celcius. But the system temp is at 39 degree celcius. Please help

Never use the Golden Orb for a TBird. It's unhealthy for your chip.

I recommend the GlobalWin FOP38

the globlewin or the alpha coolers keep 800mhz tbirds at around 30C when idle.
