Safe temp?

I just upgraded my bios on my board and decided ot see if it ran a 400 FSB more stable. Wow night and day, running a barton 2500@ 200x11 1.67Vcore like everyone else now. However, the temp of my CPU jumped... more than I had expected. It went from average idle temperature of 32*C up to average idle temperature of 45*C... though I've yet to see the workload temp above 52*C. I've gone and played in a huge raid in EQ for a few hours, and played a few hours of UT2003 with a lot of bots. Is 45*C idle 52*C with workload acceptable? Also, can anyone recommend a better stress test to see the high-end temperatures? I only used the default white goop heatsynch compound that came with my Vantec Aeroflow fan. I'm just worried about the heat since I'm here in AZ. I'll probably have to strip it down and put some arctic silver when the summer months roll around. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Those temps are fine. You might try sisoft sandra's burn in wizard or there's another program called cpu test that has a cpu warming feature. I'd probably put the arctic silver on now thought as ambient temps fluctuate and can change the cpu temps quite a bit on air cooled systems. Just a little assistance to your heatsink.I've found a little bit of negative case pressure works better for cooling because you don't have stale air pockets holding heat like you do with positive pressure. But those temps are finewhen you approach 60 degrees start thinking about re-evaluating your cooling setup. I like mine to be at least less than 55 degress at full load. The cooler the better! Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Helps quite a bit actually, and yeah my ambient temp in the case is quite cool. I'm using the Antec soho server tower. 2 fans in the front 2 fans in the back, the power supply has its own fan. I was thinking about modding this case a little and putting a blow, but figured untill its needed why waste the money. I've yet to get it over 52 yet even with extended amounts of time, but I'll try the reccomended programs. Thank you! :)
