safe temp for machine

Just replaced my power supply and the new one has three different settings for fan speed: auto, max, silent. I would love to set this to silent but not at the expense of potentially damaging something inside the machine. How could I determine if setting the power supply to 'silent' is okay? Thanks.

It might be helpful if you post the specs on your PS, and system.
If we knew what kinda of Powersupply your are running somebody for the forum probably has the same one and could give you an opinion on your question.

On my PS on my AMD64 rig has the fans speed setting of Silent, auto, or max also.
I have found that i couldnt hear a difference from the Silent to the Max fan setting on the PS since my case fans overpower the PS fans. So i just run them at Max for the most cooling.
