I have a potential buyer asking me if I would accept a money order for the item? How can I make sure that I don't get screwed? Should I ask for a cashier's check instead? Have it issued by the US Postal service, my bank (wells fargo) or some other place of business?

thanks

Ask for guaranteed funds (cashiers check or money order).

Just to be safe and for convenience, I would go with a USPS Money Order.

I've never had a problem cashing USPS and Canada Post (in my case) money orders in my ebay trading experience. It's definitely nice to get them issued by the postal service since you can cash them at the post office or the bank and the funds are guaranteed.

Yea I agree only accept USPS money orders. Money orders from non-national banks can be forged or faked entirely too easily.
