i looped 3dmark01 for an hour yesterday

at the end gpu environment was 70 C
gpu core was 85 C

looped 3dmark01 overnight (7 hours)

at end gpu environment was 70
gpu core was 97 C

played 20 minutes of need for speed
core was back at 96 C

i'm thinking that since the card is so big its just pushing all the air into the bottom of the case (where all there an intake fan but no exhaust)

what temperatures are safe for the 6800gt, it isn't artifacting but these temps seem high

as well before putting it in, cpu idle was 33/34, now its 36/37. cpu load temps were 45/46 now their 50/51
chipset was 42-44 idle, 49/50 load, now its 60 load

idle for the videocard in windows is 50 environment, 70 core

Geez, I've had my GT on water so long I don't remember the air temps. Unless your room is REALLY hot, 97c seems AWFUL toasty. Any artifacts or shut-downs? If you want to know for sure, call the cards' manufacturer or look through some reviews, especially ones tha reference overclocking.

The most mine ever got to was 95C and that's with full screen rthdribl. Games usually got to 85C. After I installed the Thermlaright V-1, my rthdribl full screen load temp was 73C. Of course, it was OCed to 415/1135, (440/1150 w/ V1). If your temps are that high running 3dmark 2001, then I don't think you should get this program, as your card might, well, die. Could be bad airflow. However you won't see artifacting till about 110C or so, your card is throttling and your FPS will severely drop. Getting an aftermarket cooler will fix this.

download CoolBits (the registration hack) and install them...... it will allow you to access a temperature monitor of the GPU core.........it shows the thresh hold temperature of the core, and the current temp
and it has a bar that lights up according to the temp (59C and below is green, 60C to 80C is yellow, everything else is red)

installed the artic silencer, getting 72 under load in games with 58 ambient

i'll loop it tonight with 3dmark01
