Safe Mode

When going into safe mode, I cant acess my desktop but rather a black screen with the words " safe mode " in the four corners of the screen and the OS and build # up top? Iv'e tried many times so far and NO dice. How do I go about fixing this? Thanks in Advance

control-alt-del or control-shift-esc.

File -> Run -> explorer
