Safe mode after installing Voodoo 5 drivers

Everytime after installing the drivers for my Voodoo 5500 AGP card and rebooting the computer, it will go to safe mode. If using the standard VGA driver there are no problems. The card was installed after a fresh install of Win98 SE. The drivers are the 1.04.01 beta drivers. Motherboard has the latest "SS" BIOS revision.

The system consists of the following:

Abit BH6
PIII 450
64 MB PC133
IBM 8.4 GB
AOpen 40X CD-ROM
Creative SB Live
Enlight 300W PSU

Any suggestions? I can install a Diamond G460 AGP card and a GeForce Pro AGP card along with their drivers on this machine with no difficulties, but the Voodoo card refuses to cooperate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried those drivers as well as a couple other 3rd party drivers with no success. I also tried to install the card in two other systems and had similiar problems. Any other AGP card installs flawlessly, so it appears that this Voodoo card has cast its last spell. The seller on e-Bay has agreed to refund the purchase price however.

Yes, the power connector was plugged in. I sent the card back for a refund. I just wanted an old Voodoo for a system I was putting together with spare parts to play Glide optimized racing sims like NFSIII, IV, and Grand Prix Legends.

Now I guess I'll just hijack the old Voodoo 3 out of my daughters computer and give her my GeForce Ti4200, and I'll get a new Radeon 9800 Pro for my main machine.
