Safe max vcore for Athlon XP mobile?

Hey guys, I have a pretty good overclock right now with my 2600+ mobile, but looking at the overclocking results thread made me wonder if I could push it further with more vcore. This is my current setup:

ABIT NF7-S rev2
Athlon XP mobile 2600+ (IQYHA stepping I think)
2x512 OCZ premier RAM @ 2.5-3-3-11, vdimm 2.7
ALX-800 with Panaflo U1A, AS5
CPU Temps: I've seen as low as 32C idle, load temp is maybe around 45C right now (still monitoring this since I just put in AS5 2 days ago, so it should drop some more).

Currently running 217x11.5 = ~2.5Ghz, vcore 1.725 (average is 1.7 in MBM5). I think it is also stable at 200x12.5, but anything substantially higher than about 2.5Ghz gives me rounding errors in Prime95. One thing that worried me right from the start was preserving the life of my CPU. I would like this system to last about 2-3 years, so I haven't tried any vcore higher than 1.75.

My question is... if I'm running at a vcore of say, 1.8, is it still safe if my temperatures stay low (<50C) under load? I would like to see if I can push it to 2.6Ghz. Thanks for the help guys.

I would keep it around 1.65. I got 2000 (200x10.0) at the default voltage of 1.45 with a mobile barton 2400. For extreme overclocking, 1.85-1.9 is the norm, which may cut the life of your cpu, even with water cooling. You won't get that much more speed above 1.65.

Well I have a 2500+ mobile and a SK-7 heatsink. Its cooling performance is slightly better than yours (barely). I am running a 1.8Vcore and am at 200*12.5. I used AS5 too. I want my proc to last at least 12 months stable, but I wanted more Vcore too (Lucky number 2600 and higher ;)). Anyway You can maybe give it an extra 0.025V Bump, but I wouldn't go much higher than that without getting a better heatsink. I;m not going higher than 1.8v on the sk-7 so I bit the bullet and bought a sp-97. It was 54 shipped from excaliber PC . (2day fedex). It should arrive wednesday ! :D

I run my 2500+ at 2.4ghz 1.7v right now. In the winter, 2.5ghz at 1.75v. No problems here, any higher might be risky though.

heatsink is a SLK-900A w/ 92mm fan.

Hmm... so voltage higher than say 1.75V or so means shorter CPU lifespan regardless of the temperature it's running at?

Is that really True? I mean back in 2000 I had a 1Ghz TBird at 1.3Ghz at 1.9v I think (default is 1.75 if I remember right) for a year at least I still have it running today at 1.05Ghz coz I changed HSF, the HSF I had before was the top of the line then and had the delta fan at 5K or 6K RPM and it was really loud. It's still running to this day.....maybe too much voltage would fry any chip but if the temps are kept low and voltage at a reasonable level I think it will last for a while longer.....anyone with mad Vcore on Athlon XP Mobile running a system for at least 2 yrs? Mobile seems to be more tolerant of heat since they were meant for laptops....

For a mobile AXP I think the max voltage you can leave it at is around 1.75V and expect it to last years, Just my 2 cents... :)

from experience, has anyone's mobile xp died from regular use at 1.8 volts or 1.9 volts?? I mean, people use to say that having a voltage of 1.92 on a duron would kill it's life, but i've had it running like that for 4 years now with consitant use and it's fine..

also, am i correct that 1.80 volts is less than 10% more than the regular 1.65 volts of the desktop bartons?

It is going to vary chip to chip obviously. Some guys will come on here saying they have had their chips with high voltage running for years. Some others will say my chip got fried in a couple of months. If want to be cautious I would probably top it out around 1.75. That is barely above the regular AXP chips so it should be fine. I run my old T-Bred B @ 1.7 in the bios and 1.725 in windows and have done so for the past year. It really seems to be getting better and better at lower and lower voltages. GL though Again I probably would stay below 1.75 in windows just to be safe.

okay, so you guys talked me into lowering my voltage.. it's set at 1.75, 1.7 volts actual under load and 1.74 without a load. Sometimes it drops to 1.68. I'm priming right now to see if it's stable. Now when you guys say 1.75 volts, are you saying actual volts underload? It seems that my mobo undervolts only underload...

EDIT: 1.75 froze prime after an hour.. so i'm going to use 1.775 - 1.73 actual underload

well my veiw on volatges is as long as your temps never hit the 50C mark you can crank the volatgage up to 2.1 and still get a couple years out of a chip. I ran my chip when my system was on water at 2.1V my temps never went above 45C. but if your on air you need to run a more sane volatage to not violate the 50C rule. I plan on getting a SLK 947 and runn my chip at 1.8V at 2.5ghz when I get all my parts back from RMA

stock vcore with my 2500xp M and 11x 200 with PC3200 samsung memory. so you should atleast beable to hit 2.2 ghz with a good mobo with out bumping the vcore.

So still no definitive answer on this huh? =P Was briefly googling this topic and saw something about 1.8V being within the safe 10% from 1.65V. I'm tempted now... I think I will try 1.8V when I get home and see if I can hit 2.6Ghz.

what is the stock voltage for a 2500 mobile?

Also - my vcore is set to 1.65 but when my MB (A7N8X-E) reads the vcore - it says it's 1.696. What's up with the difference?

I'm running at 1.85v @2532Mhz from MBM...Don't know how long this will last though...only been running for 3 weeks

I think the best way to find out is to ask anyone

Who has a AXP BARTON (MOBILE OR NOT) OCed for more that a Year? And What was the voltage you were running and at what speed?
