This is for an Accord 4 cyl. 91 LX. What's a safe limit for rpm changes? It has 160k miles approaching 170k I believe, but somewhere between those two.

Check your manual - it should give you ideal shift points for acceleration/cruising. Or do you mean the upper limit? If so, that's really all up to you and how long you plan to keep the car. The upper limit is really redline because you'll hit fuel cutoff if you try to go any higher. As far as the _safe_ limit? Somewhere between the ideal point given in the manual and redline, erring towards the manual's guidelines.
