Safe GPU Temps when to get new cooler

Alright I did a breif search and didnt come up with much.

What I have is a Sapphire Radeon X800GTO which I overclock..
Most of the time I am running 520 core 515 memory runs fine

idle temps are mid 40's but after a run through 3dmark05 its mid 80's

question is how hot is to hot? if i lower temps will it o/c higher? which is best cooler? I can get ahold of the zalman fanless one for free and the thermaltake one that radiates out the back of the case...
 
my x850XT is considered a HOT card...after i ran 3dmark05 oc'd to 600/600 the max temp i reached was 74C....so that looks a littel hot
