1. What is a good, free, app for weeding out bookmarks that point to dead links?

2. What is a good, free, app for weeding out duplicate bookmarks?

3. Is there an app that takes misnamed bookmarks and renames them to the proper title for the linked page? In my case, for example, the bookmark is named "http://espn.go.com/" but I want it changed to "ESPN: The World Wide Leader In Sports" (or even just "ESPN"). (This problem happened from errors that occurred through imports and exports and a correct source is gone.)

BTW, this for approximately 700 bookmarks.

This isn't free, but I use this and love it. Plus you get a 9 day free trial, with no limitations, so you could theoretically use it to fix them up, and then find another solution later on down the road.

Thanks. Does it work with OSX above 10.4?

If you're still using Mac OS 10.4, you can use Bookdog now and easily crossgrade to BookMacster for a small price whenever you upgrade to Mac OS 10.5 or later.

I've been using it with 10.6 just fine. No issues so far. But I don't do anything crazy. Just check for dupes, sort, haven't ever done a Verify to check that links work.. but just did that now and it worked fine.

This is definitely something I should only need to do once, so a 9 day trial should be more than enough.

I will try it over the weekend.

Thanks!!!

Yea, I hear ya.

I bought it before XMarks was available for Safari, so I could sync my bookmarks between Firefox and Safari. Now that it is.. I use it every once in a while to clean stuff up (like every 3 months or so), but not as much as I used to.

OK, so I cleaned everything up with Bookdog, but, unless I am missing something, it does not appear that it fixes misnamed bookmarks.

Does it? If so, how?

If not, is there a program that will fix bookmark names?

Thanks again.
