Not the saddest story ever, but a damn sad one nonetheless.

It's very sad story, but the girl after the drunk driver accident is indeed the saddest.

Yikes, 19 years. I really need to make something up saying that I can be kept alive for like 6 days.... The rest would be neverending hell and there wouldn't be much you could do about it.

I don't see why we're comparing which story is the saddest. Can't they all be equally sad? Death itself is a sad event. Regardless of how it happens.

Agreed.. but this is more sad than someone who has gotten capital punishment for a hanus crime. I see your point though!

Sad. But definitely not the saddest. I know of a similar story.

My parents know a family who's only child has been in a coma for 15 years now. Both parents are already in thier 60's and their son was involved in a car accident back then. Till this day he is not in control of anything, nor is he concious. He is bed ridden. He's like 30 something years old. Can you imagine having your only child like this? They won't be retiring anytime soon because if they don't have money, they will have to stop his life support. They have no family here in the u.s., but they want to stay here because the treatment is supposedly better. They have spent millions of dollars keeping him alive (insurance gave up a long time ago), with that faint glimmer of hope that one day, he make come out of it.

Yeah, this is quite sad. But not too sad. For example, one of my co-workers' (woman) son is 9 and he'd deaf. Once she needed some stuff from work on her day off and her son was with her. Nice lad, only he can't talk b/c he never heard words. He looks pretty normal, though. What I like about that woman is tat she doesn't seem to perceive it as a tragedy of some major kind. She just carries on and is in good mood every day and she loves her son, I'm pretty sure about that. Of course, she also had 3 husbands but does it have anything to do with her son? Of course not.
