named saddest movie ever, "The Champ"
http://theweek.com/article/index/217652/the-champ-saddest-movie-ever

spoiler here, so if you don't want to see how the movie the Champ ends don't click the link. ricky shroeder looks about 6 years old here. the kid is a phenomenal actor, especially in this closing scene. i heard on some radio show today that this scene was tops for making people cry.

it's a 1979 movie in which "The Champ", Jon Voight, is trying to win custody of his kid, ricky shroeder, and he needs to make some money in order to do so. So he goes back to boxing, which he had retired from, and he ends up dying after a fight.
this is the closing scene. 🙁

I remember crying a ton when I first saw that movie

real tears, not like those I cried during the little mermaid and Independence Day.

Also. I see your "saddest movie ever" and raise you this:

Rose in the movie The Titanic was a self absorbed bitch. Not once when she was in the water laying across that piece of floating debris did she ask Jack to climb on with her. Didn't even suggest it. Just laid there hogging the whole think like a spoiled brat. 😉
