Good Year For The Roses
Good one - Elvis Costello's cover on Almost Blue is worth hearing BTW.

That's the only version of it I've heard, I have it on one of his hits discs. If I'm driving listening to that CD, I almost have to pull over when that song comes on. Tugs at me something fierce.

Temple of the Dog - Say Hello to Heaven is a good sad song

also

Cranberries - Dying in the Sun (tho not as good, bit repetitive towards the end)

Jefferson Starship - Sarah is good too

the cure - pictures of you, to wish impossible things, untitled
gin blossoms - until i fall away
radiohead - creep
anything box - carmen
yaz - mr blue
guns 'n roses - don't cry
sinead o connor - nothing compares 2 u

The dixie chicks have a good one called Travelin' Soldier.

The saddest love song will always be the one song you are listening to that fits the moment the best.

My mom always bursts into tears when she hears traveling soldier. I think she's really scared that my little brother is going to go off to war soon.

Natalie Merchant - Beloved wife
Collin Raye - Love, me
Diamond Rio - You're gone, One more day
Lonestar - What might have been
Allison Krauss - (take your pick of the song, she has tons of good ones)

This song isn't really sad, but I think it's a very good song if you want to show your gal how you feel about her 🙂

Brian McKnight - Let me love you
