I think you're confusing a fast car with a sports car. There is literally no information available to you to determine if this is a good sports car, only that it is a fast car.

To most non-car people, those are one in the same. They never actually learn to drive at the limit, just putter around and occasionally take on-ramps at like 0.4g, or wrap the car around a tree the minute some wheels start to slip.

True but I can look at Tesla's track testing results with the Model S Plaid and Elon's goal of the new Roadster which is to lay smackdown on all ICE sports car when it comes to performance. Based on Elon and Tesla's past results, I have no reason to doubt Tesla won't deliver on their promise.

Patriotic is the one thing I don't need to feel, when sitting inside a car.
Comfortable, safe, competent and responsible, those are higher priorities.
I need to feel giddy. Driving irresponsibly fast kind of giddy.

Sounds like you need a motorcycle

i would love a ebike... a real ebike, and not a glorfied bycicle with 1000w motor.
But i also know if i got one, i would probably end up killing myself.

I love that raw acceleration and G way too much that it drives my cousin's and friends insane when i drive.
But then again, that is why i have a 2.5sec 0-60 car, i love when you get slammed so hard on your rear seat, that your literally glued there.

I need to feel giddy. Driving irresponsibly fast kind of giddy.

i only love the 0-60 take off... i will not break the speed limit excessively, and i will not drive like an idiot. I will only take off when i know its safe, like an on ramp to a freeway, or maybe at the light in open traffic to the next light.

I actually scorn at the idiots who drive like a maniac.
If your going to kill yourself, then kill yourself, dont kill the innocent mom in the SUV next to or in front of you for your mistake.

The most patriotic thing to do is to buy American and EV. Yet you bought German and ICE.

That's a message to American manufacturers: make better cars and I will buy! (yes, I'm including Tesla....which I'd like to be my next car...well, unless the Germans give me a sweet EV Golf R in the next 10 years)

I grew up in an America where I had access to American car products from the 60's to the early 80's. I would only buy them on the very cheap, and in the state of Rhode Island, where I am originally from, any vehicle over ten years old doesn't even need a title to register. So, the most I think I ever spent on an American car was $995 and that was way back in 1985. Even then I think I paid too much for the 1978 Plymouth Fury Sport with a Slant-6. And haven had one experience with Japanese ('95 Accord Coupe Ex 4cyc) I am not sure I want to trust them either but then there is that effing anomaly in my life known as my 19 year old Tundra that won't seem to die. But everything henceforth is been a Bimmer, with now considerations for MB.

VW will be one of the legacy survivors so you should see some nice EVs from them in the next 10 years. ID3 is getting good reviews in Europe and I expect ID4 to do well in the US once it's released next year. With the full $7,500 federal tax credit, ID4 should be significantly cheaper than the Model 3.

The IDs are garbage cars.

I want an eGolf. :D

While sitting in a parking lot yesterday waiting on the little woman (wife), I saw a GLA250 sitting there in white. Looked kind of nice but I really was detracted by the MB decision to force it to be a four-door. Again, MB is anti hot hatch for NA. But ignoring that, I got my wife to go look at it and she liked the size and looks of it as it reminded her of the BMW X2. I managed to find the HP rating, which was 382 out of a biturbo 2 liter. But AMG has not yet released their pricing for the AMG45 on this vehicle, and the AMG35 with 302HP is like $46K. I wonder why BMW isn't competing here.

So, after getting feedback on my wife's liking of the BMW X2 M35i and showing her a video of the Mercedes Benz A45 S AMG we both agreed that while we prefer BMS's interiors on cars, the MB A45 S AMG on the outside and probably the driving might be better. And then we realized, the A-class STILL isn't sold in the USA. And MB has the nerve to respond to this by suggesting that those seeking the A45 S AMG in the Americas to buy the CLA45 AMG instead. Um, one is a hot hatchback and the other a shooting brake (coupe styled sedan).

:(

When in doubt, summon E63 AMG Wagon.

I doubt there is much of a market for tiny little 350-400hp SUV that cost 60k when you can get a GLC/X3/Fpace sized version for nearly the same price.

I think the GLA, and X2, are considered more of a CUV than SUV. But that's just it, we are not looking for bigger, and we are not alone. Maybe I should just put her into an M2 or M420i. Actually, what surprises me more then the power per liter these engines has reached is how small and still heavy they are. The GLA is the same ballpark weight of my 2013 335. The M240i is almost 3800 pounds with the M2 slimming down to 3600. I M240/M2 are about the same size as our 2004 BMW 325 and it is only 3200 pounds. Like they added 2-3 occupants worth of wieght.

I'm not saying there isn't a market for small cuv/suv. I see piles of those Buick Encore and similar sized vehicles on the road. I just don't think there is a market for 60K high performance versions of those vehicles. Which means when someone does try to sell one like MB then it's price just doesn't make sense to most people.

Also, the thing about the vehicles your talking about is that the cargo space is very close to the class tier higher than them. Example would be a GLA having 15cuft of cargo and a GLC having 19cuft. A lot of the extra room the tier higher offers in better seating. If you're OK with these tiny back seats, do you even need back seats? Buy a 55K sports coupe.

You know, I would have agreed on this if it were not for the 1 in 3 minivan drivers in Atlanta driving like they were Mario Vandretti. Yesterday wife was zipping down the interstate doing about 85 and who passes us? Minivan Mario doing about 95-100 with a bunch of people in it. Not a shocker, but an every day occurrence. And about the extra room, the wife bought her first car out of college and said she would only take a two-door. When I asked why she said she didn't want to give anyone else the chance of riding in her car. :p She's not into driving to haul others around and also has been eying two-seat roadsters. But I know you are not talking about me or my wife but the consumer base at large. Well, fuck them, I was ranting about me and my wife. Talk about others in another thread and let them eat their Buick cake.

The words from a privileged, spoiled brat.
I'll accept brat, but spoiled and privileged? I drive a 19 year old pickup truck with a quarter million miles on it. We haven't bought a car since 2014. And we save our money up to buy nicer things instead of cheaper things. We chose not to spend our money on kids and instead kept the toys to ourselves. We are just as selfish in our decision as anyone else is in theirs. Sounds like you enjoy labeling those you are jealous of.

So they do make a non-AMG version of the E-series wagon. Its a whopping $67,600 base price and a bit under-powered (369HP). But I laugned at the 600HP of the AMG version which is 100 more ponies than the base model Corvette.

I remember that video when I was watching his videos. Too funny. I'm not saying I wouldn't love the AMG version --I really would--but I think I would have to win a lottery before I could afford it.

Are you saying E63s popularity has dropped for Teslas? I find it odd anyone would cross shop anything Tesla vs an E63s.

I am just reporting what I am seeing in terms of sheer number. I used to see quote a few E63 around, not so much now. Teslas are like swarming like ants here.
