From a recent Time Magazine article:

If the U.S. cannot be made to halt the war through shame, Saddam hopes to try pain. U.S. military-intelligence officials believe the Iraqi command circulated copies of the movie Black Hawk Down before the war, as a manual for defeating the Americans. The film tells the story of the 18 U.S. Army Rangers who were killed by Somalis while attempting to rescue comrades from two helicopters downed in Mogadishu in 1993. The casualties prompted the U.S. to wind up its military operation in Somalia. The Iraqis may hope that similar scenes of Americans being bloodied in the streets of Baghdad would bring the same result.

One thing Saddam forgets: Our current president sticks to his word and isn't poll-driven like WJC.

Edit: Time to watch BHD again. Glad I bought it!

Watched that again this weekend. It's a shame some of our sons died that day, had they had the equipment that they wanted it would have probably went off without a hitch, still our kill ratio was what 550 to 18 and we were totally surrounded by thousands of hostiles. Thanks to WJC's pulling us out and his overall lack of support it was technically a defeat. The CIA is estimating 25000 to 30000 Iraqi's to a handful of coalition forces now. That handful imho is too much of a price to pay for such a worm as Saddam, but the world will be a much better place after he is dead.

Saddam cares nothing for his own people though and will use them as cannon fodder, his personal commendation for the suicide bombers is proof of that

True words... However, how long will the American public and the politics support a war when we have only body bags coming back? How long is the only question I have right now.

Green Party member? I do not agree with your Opinion. Bush isn't Clinton not by a longshot. Clinton had his shot and luckily we have term limits!
