The test was easy people (I took it) . On top of that, all you needed to do to pass was get ~ %50 of the problems correct.

Edit:I am not mad at the results because they are better than last year's. I am mad that some of the lawmakers here think we don't need to improve on them.

So this statement in the BOE's press release is a flat-out lie?:

when i first had to take those the teachers told us that they didnt affect our grades..only a test for the state to see how we did,nobody took them seriously, so we would just put down what ever so we could get out early

LOL. Well you didn't write the test, so you don't get to make that call.

The passing grade can be defined as whatever the issuer of the test considers adequate.

Some states that have started administering these tests would be happy if 50% of their HS juniors passed.

When you get to college, you'll find that teachers will sometimes base the passing grade on the overall class performance on the test, or modify the standard "60% = D" metric based on the difficulty of the test.

NJ has been using these tests for years, and in 2002 only 65.8% passed all 3 sections.

When was the last time you took a test that you only had to make a 50 to pass ?

a friend at UC Berkeley recently had one of the grade curves in his class set at 65% for an A. He said the tests in that class are the first ones ever where he's walked out not knowing if he got any of the answers right.

Something wrong with those Berkeley kids? Fail them all!

When was the last time you took a test that you only had to make a 50 to pass ?

about 2 weeks ago, when I took an assessment test that enabled me to skip pre-calculus. I only needed 19/40 to pass, and I got 27.
