American Beauty - sorta sad but sorta happy
Mulholland Dr. - a weird movie/thriller (?), but somewhat sad
Romeo + Juliet (1997 I think) - well, you know the story... I like the style of the movie (very modern and "hip" but with the original Shakespearean language). Some people don't like it though.
The Man Who Wasn't There - sad film noir 😕
Others:
-A Walk to Remember
-Saints and Soldiers (overlooked, but great WWII film, direct to dvd)
-Indochine (foreign film around the Vietnam War period)
-Heaven and Earth (based on Amy Tan novel)
Anime: Grave of the Fireflies (Very very very sad. To the anime-haters, this is a very realistic movie worth looking in to)
