Okay I'm a little worried now, because apparently the site was only blocked after I started visiting it. So does that mean they can trace all site access back to me? Here's the deal: when I started I had NO internet access (only intranet) but eventually I got "unlimited" access via proxy server. Naturally I know that "unlimited" still means I might be monitored, and I don't visit any shady sites to begin with (only ATOT!)

I am in the habit of checking Fark once in awhile, just for the headlines. Well today when I tried hitting the site, I immediately got to page that said "User access not authorized" with the company's IT helpline. So does that mean someone has been monitoring my access, seeing the sites I visit, and decided Fark.com was NSFW?? Am I in trouble? If only they didn't link to [Boobies] and have pics of t-shirt models all over it'd be fine...idiots!

Might have just been an update to the blacklisted sites for whatever app they're using.

It probably only labels sites after their first visit if they aren't in the database. Once it gets hit, the server goes out and checks it and determines the content, it then categorizes it accordingly.

Oh yea, Silver Spring, right? I was just thinking about DC because everyone's been talking about Dupont Circle lately.

heh, you're going through a proxy.

Each and every single byte, page, url, file, jpg, mouse click, everything is logged and then reported.

slightly off topic, but if you SSH through port 80 to a linux box at home and use it as a proxy to browse the internet, would they still be able to see where you're going?

proxy wouldn't allow the tunneling as it doesn't look like HTML.
