Sad e-mail from local PD

My local PD was contacted acout a case I have going against a person in another state (online fraud). Out of curiosity I asked why the local PD would not investigate. His response was that the department does not have the manpower. Part of the e-mail is below.

"Bike thefts, even though the bike may be worth thousands of dollars, do not get investigated. Most thefts from vehicles don't get investigated. A lot of home burglaries don't get investigated, and MOST internet crimes do not get investigated."

I find this to be sad more than anything.

Where do you live? I've been thinking about a new bike ...

Kidding of course. I suspect it's similar everywhere. Probably not a good idea for the police to advertise what crimes they will or won't investigate though.
How'd you vote the last time a local tax increase crossed the ballot?

Most local PD are understaffed and overworked. Now would you rather your local PD investigate the local

1) Child rapist
2) Woman rapist
3) Pedophile
4) HIV Positive guy banging one's non-infected daughter
5) Serial killer

or

1) Stolen bike
2) internet fraud.

I did not mean that your case is not worth looking at, but sometimes there are higher priorities that if not resolved earlier, will result in the following:

1) Child rapist raping another kid
2) Woman rapist raping another woman
3) Pedophile banging another underage
4) HIV Positive guy banging one's non-infected daughter and infecting more people
5) Serial killer killing more people

I'm a big fan of investigating such activities with a "shoot first and ask questions later" attitude for a reason. Armed robberies and home invasions in my neighborhood and vandals running amok in my girlfriends area slaughtering horses, cows and other livestock....

This country makes me sick.

if they spent less time busting people for 10 and 15 over, they'd have plenty of time for all of that stuff.

i have a friend who dropped out of the PD, and went on to another career because he said the police can't properly do their job anymore. they are condemned by the public turned plantiffs at a ridiculous pace.

this may account for the shortage.

this is a really bad argument.

1) yes child rape is bad but not very frequant. not enought to take away a lot of manpower and depending on the area same with 3,4, and 5.

I agree that there are higher priorities, yet I also can't help but question the point of making things illiegal if there will be zero enforcement. Since the PD will do nothing, there is essentially no way criminal action can be taken. So what is the point? Considering that I pay for these services, I find it pathetic.

If we didn't complain about using our tax dollars to give them more resources perhaps they'd have a "n1gga stole my bike task force".

Um, this is central Wisconsin. The "n1gga stole my bike task force" would have about eight suspects.

Time for a line up!

And before anyone calls me racist, that was a line from 50 cent so don't get your ACLU panties in a bunch.

Wow, the worst we have around here is cattle theft. People are killing them for the heck of it? I don't think anybody here caught doing that would make it to the Police.
