Sad that she died, but come on now, how stupid do you have to be to not realize not to do that stuff on your own in real life?

Just a little common sense goes a long way.

Yeah, let's ban anything stupid people may try to emulate. I love this line: "The audience it was aimed at doesn't pay attention," MacKinnon's grandmother, Pat Fleck, said. I don't think at 16 I would have thought this was such a wise idea either. Of course I feel badly that she died doing something stupid but we really need to stop blaming everything else and look at ourselves sometimes.

It's sad that someone so young lost their life, but the stupid weeding themselves out of the gene pool is part of evolution so I don't feel too bad.

I bet they now have a much better understanding of centrifugal force.

It shouldn't take a genius to predict the results of that stunt.

I don't recall the stunt they mentioned. What exactly happend? A truck just dragged a merry go round around or did it spin the entire thing around really fast?

It is a sad thing.

But this I do not agree with:

The show does warn viewers not to attempt any of the stunts, but MacKinnon's friends and family say it's not enough.

"The audience it was aimed at doesn't pay attention," MacKinnon's grandmother, Pat Fleck, said.

"I see the little thing on the TV show ...'Don't try this at home.' Yeah right ... I mean if they can do it, we can do it," friend Andrew Royster said.

What the hell? Not enough? I don't really see what else they can do. Take it off the air? Well I guess her kids should not see films either.

ANYONE with a bit of common else would see the danger of the stunt they were going to do. A car drive with a rope attach to a dam merry go round. You are going to have to be pretty dam strong to hold on to it if the car goes any sort of pace.

THAT is just asking for trouble.

I'd blame it more on the little common sense of the kids and the parents whining about this sort of thing. The death is sad but the parents are just pissy imo.

RIP.

kinda sorta maybe sad, a girl dying of the stupidity of her and her friends..... she obviously followed along vs. some kid who hasn't eaten in a few weeks starving to death, now that's really sad

I'm sorry to hear that a 16 year-old girl died, but c'mon, people.... how stupid do you have to be?

Jeez... I hate Jackass too -- won't even watch it -- but I'll defend free expression against stupidity anyday.

Yeah, I agree. It is a very sad and tragic event, but I don't agree that the jackass show is responsible. They made a decision to try something that was obviously dangerous, and this was the outcome.

Sad.

They attached a rope and "spun" it up then attached to a truck and speed of spinning it at crazy speeds.

The people on Jackass are professional stunt guys and believe it or not, do know what they are doing... However crap happens and sometimes they do get hurt. What you dont see on Jackass is the medics in the background on the more risky stunts, that are also monitoring to make sure nothing happens. The kid is stupid for trying to imitate the stunts on jackass.

As the great Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Imitation is suicide." -- Clear case in point here
