Can someone explain to me why the RAZR is so awful?

You guys make it sound like it's the worst phone ever made or something. Voice quality is excellent, it hasn't dropped any calls, and I get signal everywhere I have travelled so far. Is it just because it's popular like the Ipod, so everyone hates it?

There's nothing wrong with it, it's actually a sexy phone. The problem is it's cliche. Everyone has one, so it's deemed crappy people that think it's too common.

There have been complaints that it's antenna is poor, but it depends on where you're at.

At least my old Motorolla v60 is also a self-defense cellphone.
Because you can knock someone out with it if you throw it at them.

I still like my Sanyo 3100. Makes a great phone, and it has an excellent speakerphone on it for the walkie-talkie feature.

No full-size keyboard, no care. :p

7290 does everything I need, until I get the $ to get an 8700. :)

My cellular telephone device can make telephone calls, send and receive text messages, and is small enough to fit into my pocket. Anything more is for suckers who are paying way too much for crappy features.

Crappy features like a 2MP camera, an mp3 player, handheld gaming device(yes it runs 3D games with N64 graphics)

I love my Sony Ericsson K750i. You just never used a good cell phone before.

This may come as a shock to you, but many of us have no need for those features.

This may come as a shock to you.. no one needs those features..
But some people may really enjoy those features..
If you don't enjoy them.. then get a vanilla bottom of the line free phone. But for others, like me, likes to have those things.

Yes... do you understand the point of this thread? The OP is mocking Americans for using crappy phones. Who cares what phones we use if they do what we need them to do?

i agree.

i just want one that can make and recieve calls and text messages. anything else while nice i just do not really need.

though i do want a PDA phone heheh

No you don't. PDA phones blow at both being a phone and being a PDA.
Which smartphones have you used?

I have a little, no-frills Samsung flip phone: 640x480 camera and text messaging are about the only bells and whistle it has. But, the reception and sound quality on it are both great, which is what was most important to me - I am partially hearing impaired, and a lot of cell phones are difficult for me to use.
