Saab Aero-X Concept

LOL, here goes GM again, badge-whoring their soul by giving the new Camaro to SAAB!!! Meh, at least it looks distinctive!

edit: next time I'll read before posting and not just look at the pretty picture. I guess its based on the Solstice/Sky platform, but I thought it was the new F-body platform (is that what they're calling it?)

Anyone know the sound track to these new Saab commercial??

This pretty thing sure don't looks like it was born from jet.

What are you smokin'?
Cubans. I only smoke Cubans. No seriously, I live 45 minutes from Canada and the border guards never even bother to look for contraband. 😛

pic makes hood look like it came from the Caddy 16.
looks like a sky. Initia reaction was it's a sky when I first saw it, then I though damn that's a long hood, better have a turboed v12 in there.

LOL, I like how the article assumes it'll be front-engine, RWD but isn't there a possibility for AWD, especially since the model name has 'X' in the designation? Hmm, AWD roadster, is that hot or not?

Though prevailing wisdom has suggested Saab's upcoming Geneva Motor Show concept is a small roadster, UK's Channel4 is reporting that the embattled automaker is actually up to something altogether larger.

According to their sources, the Saab showcar will be a two-door, 'DB9-sized' coupe on an all-new platform. What's more, word is that Swede is to be fitted with a stonking corn-fed 400 bhp bi-turbo powerplant. Further, the Biopower (ethanol-capable) engine is rumored to be a derivation of the Holden 2.8 six-pot used in Saab's 9-3 sedan.

Though the Swedish automaker has built its reputation on high-powered, front-wheel-drive offerings, 400-ponies through the nose-end roundy-rounds strikes as excessive (300-horse Caliber SRT-4 or no), even for Trollhatten's torque-steer happy boffins. Ergo, expect all-wheel-drive, and a possible Aero-X moniker.
