Saab 9-5 --- Anyone own one? Thoughts?

I sat in one of these bad boys yesterday and was VERY impressed. Very solid build quality, well laid out controls, and the most comfortable (ventilated leather!) seats I have ever sat in.

What do ya'll think of them?

Damn I had this as a rental for a couple weeks! Fully loaded (heated and cooled seats and such). Awesome car! Don't like turbo lag too much but once it kicked in....

$40K-$50K, and they're Front Wheel Drive. I think I'll pass :disgust:

They're owned by GM though, so when you buy one, you're technically supporting the American auto industry

Unless the car is horribly mangled, yes!

The car is MINT.

Also, I heard of an new ECU for the 2.3L LPT that you can have put in for ~150.00 that bumps up the HP/Torque, and doesn't void the warranty. Anyone else hear of that?

The car is actually at the Saab dealer, so I don't think they would sell me a lemon!

Just make sure you are married to a mechanic that doesn't mind working on them
(and has plenty of time available to do so)

The 9-5 is nice but the real star for SAAB is the 9-3 Viggen, tuned by TWR(Formul 1 calibure tuning house) and looks better imo.

Saabs have the most comfortable seats EVER!! I could sleep in them!! if Saabs made sofas and recliners they would be minting money!! It's something they should consider!

As for the actual car, they have tons of torque-steer, you wouldn't wanna be hitting full boost in Canadian winters, especially during turning or emergency manuvers...it would be easier to lose control than normal cars cause of the torque steer.

Apart from that, its a great and stylish car..I just wish they were RWD or AWD.
