And it starts at just under $25,000 for the base model (non-turbo'd). WTF? GRRRRRRRRRR

Holy crap what a blatant rip-off; it's like they didn't even try.

You can get a loaded WRX wagon for ~$24,000

Well, at least BMW doesn't badge engineer their cars.

Same with Volvo and Ford.

I think that Ford has done a much better job with Volvo. Their identity is still intact IMHO.

And don't forget, Saab has way more sales now, and their reliability has also gone up, same as Volvo.

I wasn't aware that either of them had a reliability problem prior to Ford and GM...

My 300k Volvo might have something to say about that... LoL

True, but I still often confuse a VW for an audi from a distance, so they seem to to an extent.

I don't get what's wrong with it. Isn't it supposed to be the carbon copy of the WRX as a demonstration of GM's alliance with Subaru?

I thought it was supposed to be cheaper base WITH a turbo :| How much are they going to tack on for it?

I can't see a turbo add on costing less than ~$4k.

Saab will offer a first look at the production version of its 9-2X at the Los Angeles auto show late this month. There will be two versions: the turbocharged, 227-hp 9-2X Aero, shown here, with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and a naturally aspirated 165-hp, 2.5-liter Linear model. Both models will have all-wheel drive and go on sale in July. Prices will begin under $25,000. General Motors' affiliate Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. will produce the 9-2X for Saab.

You would have thought that GM learned their lesson when they almost killed their Cadillac division with badge engineering.

Yes they did
That is why Cadillac CTS was designed and engineered in Germany
That is why Chevy Malibu is just uglified, rebaged Opel Vectra (again German engineering)
That is why new "muscle" Pontiac GTO is just rebaged Holden.
And so on and so on

Saab is making a clone of the WRX. The specs and everything will be exactly the same.
This has been known for sometime if you read any Subaru forums.

I think everyone knows that...we were just hoping that it would be a little more than a wrex with a new clip. At least Ford has the right idea with the new:

Ford Focus
Mazda 3
Volvo S40/V40

Same platforms, different bodies/interiors. Then again, GM is the KING of badge engineering.

Sounds a lot like what Ford did with Jaguar.

Man, you're a DUMBASS. He said "almost killed", which is PAST TENSE. Ever remember the Cadillac Cimarron, which was basically A FREAKING CAVALIER?!?!? Pull your head out of your ass, GM Zealot.

Look like a scoobie with a Saab front end. meh!:|
Well, what were you expecting? I think it actually looks better than the Subaru, but I've never liked the WRX's front styling, bugeyed or not.

It does look incongruous because it has such obvious styling cues from both Subaru and Saab, but let this thing eat Saab depreciation for a few years and I'd hit it.

I don't think anyone was hoping that at all. Well mabey they were. If they did hope that, then every thought they forumulated was in vain
Everyone knew exactly what was coming out. There is no suprise here.
Saab practically said it will be an absolute copy of a wrx, with Saab badging and interior.
