SA6R IDE problems...please help!

Hi,

My friend recently bought SA6R, he wants to have the following devices connectied:

3 hard drives
1 DVD ROM
1 CDR

I told him to do the following:

IDE1 M-DVD
IDE2 M-CDR
IDE3 M-HD1
IDE4 M-HD2 S-HD3

But he said that there is a "IDE or SCSI problem" reported when trying to burn CDs and also that W2K does not detect the HD1 when installing. So he rearranged it to:

IDE1 M-DVD S-CDR
IDE2 M-HD1
IDE3
IDE4 M-HD2 S-HD3

I told him that the HD1 needs to be either on IDE1 Master or IDE3 Master. He has been getting invalid disk problems at boot up using this method too.

So I guess my question is how to install W2K on the hard drives using the HighPoint370 controller?

And also, what are some of the potential sources of problems for the IDE problem with the CD burner with the first config?

Thanks.

i don't know bout win 2k, but for NT 4.0, in order to install with the HD on the highpoint ATA66, you had to specifiy it while installing and install the drivers... my only advice is to cehck the manual for a NT-based installation process, i know they had it on some of the older BX board manuals...
