Intel reported 4Q earnings. I won't have time today to update with all the info but here's the summary:

  • 8% Y/Y revenue growth
  • GM was 60.1%
  • Client computing was $10B in revenue
  • DC was $7.2B revenue (19% Y/Y growth)
All in all, looks like intel is still driving forward, margins were back up and they are projecting an upside in Q1 as well as FY2020.

Here's a good summary for the segments most in here care about. For those that don't know, if the number is in parenthesis then it means it is a decrease of that amount.

Yeah, AMD is still not really hurting them, even in data center... beyond the shortage caused by the core count increases. I wonder what caused the big increase in desktop volumes.

The modem revenue was up big.. Apple must have killed it.

Seems incredible to me that the volumes are down in a lot of categories, but they are still making money ! I can't wait until the 28th to see what AMD posts.

And they still can't produce enough...

The financial numbers clearly show it's time for Intel to cut a significant part of its workforce. /s
Did they mention anything about it in the earnings call?

Part of me thinks they are playing with numbers. They've spent billions as in 15b in buybacks this year alone to prop up their financials.

They are still pretty much selling everything they are able to make, with the few currently available CPUs like the 9900k priced at $523 ($488 was the list price when it launched, and it dipped to around $430 at one point): https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/processors/intel/

Their retail availability has been really bad for months now. If this shortage lasts through the entire year (like some say it will), it will eventually hurt them much more than it has so far. The longer the shortage lasts, the more OEMs and businesses will be forced to fill the shortage with AMD powered products.
