i'm looking to get the new a64 3000+. i saw the oem on pricewatch for $179, so i'll need a good hsf to go with that (i will be oc'ing) ... any recommendations? i tried looking for socket939 HSF's but couldnt find much. am i searching with the wrong keywords?
Zalman 7000 (a) or (b) I'm using one on my A64 3500 with good results as many others are.http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=35-118-108&depa=0
No sense in spending extra on the all copper version.Doesn't offer any better cooling,is heavier.
Or if you're not planning on overclocking I have the stock AMD A64 HSF,brand new, unused here for you.I swapped immediately upon arrival of my parts. You can have it for $15 + S+H(shouldn't be much at all)
The stock HSF is quite sufficient for everyday normal use and even appropriate for minor overclocking. Will throw in thermal paste as well.Let me know.
S754 uses the same mechanism to fasten heatsinks as the S939, so if there are no capacitors in the way every S754 hsf will fit a S939 mobo.
The Zalman 7000 series is a great choice for a hsf as real performance increases will only happen with $50+ hsfs.
