S754 & 1.5GB @ 1T or S939 & 2GB @ 2T ?

1.5GB RAM is enough for me. But, since S939 boards can't use 3 DIMMs at a time, I'd have to use 2.0GB to use a S939 board.

The S754 boards I've seen only have 3 DIMM slots. If all three slots are loaded, is the memory operating at 1T or 2T? I know on S939, the best I'll get with 4 DIMMS is 2T.

Let's assume 1.5GB of memory is plenty for me (I already have 4 DIMMS though). What's better S754 @1T timing with 3 DIMMS, or S939 @2T with 4 DIMMS?

Who says you cant use 3 stick of ram in a socket 939 mobo?

You can use 3 sticks just fine, probably going to drop down to single channel but you can use 3 sticks fine.

Why do you need more than 1GB? The best performance option is 939 with 1gb, if you need more ram get the 939 with 2 x 1024, or use the 4 sticks you have at 2T, 1T vs 2T is not that big a deal. Going 754 at this point makes no sense

754 CPU are clocked 200MHz higher than their 939 counterparts, and the faster 754, the 3700+ is a 4000+ without dual channel.

Unless overclocking or wanting to upgrade to expensive dual cores, then the 754 could be a good choice too.

My Socket 754 board requires 2T with 1.5 gigs (3x512MB) to run stable at 200 Mhz. Things are VERY unstable with 1T and 3 sticks of ram, even if 2 of them are single sided modules (1x512 and 2x256 single sided)

YMMV.
