S3 to DS3 - require HD format?

I know, why go from a Gigabyte S3 to a DS3? Long story......

In any case, if I do it, would I still need to do a hard drive format? I thought the 2 boards were the same except for the capacitors.........which would mean no format?


Anyone know? Much thanks.
