S3 (STR) Suspend Mode

Hi, I have a question about this Suspend To RAM mode. It seems very useful to me, as the system shuts down completely and so has 0 power consumption, right? And it also starts up almost as quickly as the Power On Suspend mode. So is there any thing bad about this? How does the RAM still hold the information if there's no power? Can't I just go to this mode instead of shutting down my computer, to have my computer working within 5 seconds?

no, the computer doesn't turn completely off. it still supplies power to the ram and keeps it refreshed....so if your computer loses power while it's in str, you won't be able to str-boot. also, you shouldn't always use str because, as I'm sure you know, a clean reboot is often very beneficial to windows, and str doesn't do a clean reboot
