S3 readies 6600 SLI killer

<----- beleive it when see it

The drivers will have cheats for a few specific popular benchmark Games/Apps, other Games/Apps will have sub-GF4 perfomance, graphic glitches will be everywhere, features won't work, in short it will suck. They'll sell a ton into Third World markets, but in the Industrialized world they won't even appear in stores.

Maybe you guys should wait for reviews before you dismiss Chrome20. 😉

On paper the cards look pretty good. As long as the drivers aren't crap, I think S3 will have a real winner on their hands.

IMO this is interesting if only because it's low power. At 12W, you can put a decent heatsink on it and you can get by without a fan. This might be popular with people looking for a silent desktop or HTPC.

Especially with the extra video features it purports to support 😉

I would be more than happy if this new gen of S3 cards were good products, and actually made it here to the U.S.

Amen. A set of these highend ones in "SLI" for about $150 could be pretty nice 🙂

* How embarrissing! Mispelled my own name! 😱

pretty cool that u can sli on just about any mother board with them....heck they even said you can run as many as you want. theo you get diminishing returns after 3

this is an interesting chip, 700mhz is pretty high....and only 12watts! i remember reading about its other features specific to HTPC use........this could be a very good card for HTPC'ers

i hope this card does make it, i wont be buying it, but it'll be a damn interesting read
