S3 getting into the DX10 class?

lol i still have a virge dx kickin around, it had 4 or 8 megs of ram i think. i only had a couple games that supported it, descent 2 and tombraider, all it really did was enable bilinear filtering, but at much slower framerates. basically, it sucked.

i remember when the savage3d came out though, it was pretty damn good. especially its texture compression, it looked pretty awesome.

i never bought another s3 card though, i got a stb velocity 4400, which had the riva tnt processor, followed by the geforce 3ti 200, the geforce 6600 and now ati's 3850.

which reminds me, they should make a new descent.
