S3 968 and Windows 2000

I'm currently trying to get a S3 968 chip to work under Win2k. The chip has a bug that causes the system to crash unless you change some of the memory allocation settings. Problem is, since upgrading to win 2K I haven't been able to modify the resource settings like I was able to in Windows 98. Is there any way I can override Win2K so It'll let me uncheck the automatic checkbox in the resource setting? Or is there a way I can have the registry so it'll let me do it. Thanks in advance.
