both of these cars just popped on craigslist in my area and can be had relatively cheap. Normally I would shy away from both of these cars because body work isnt really in my wheelhouse. I dont live close enough to black2na to bribe him with beer :)

Both are cars I have wanted and I need another car like I need a hole in the head but the s13 will be done this weekend and the DSM engine is next. The funny thing is I have engines ready for both of these cars >< The S14 would get a LS1 and the AE would get a k20a honda !!!!!!

my gut wants the ae86 but my heart wants the s14

I would have to go for the AE86 but I've always been a fan of them.

I'm not sure what motivated them to butcher it with that paint job though, I'm not a great painter but that's just terrible.

Hachi Roku FTW. Make sure to make a drifting video when you are done with it

Pass on both. AE86 never did anything for me and that 240 is a write off... even in mint shape either of those is F&F meh crowd.

Go for the Toy! but make sure it has the rims from the first picture. The stock ones in teh second photo fit horribly.

AND what Jlee said.

That S14 is totalled. Look at the ripple behind the rear window. ike

Why the heck would they swap in a KA24DE in that AE86? I know stock for stock the KA has a bit more power, but the 4AGE is a much nicer starting point. That's coming from a guy with a KA powered 240SX (and a regular defender of the KA, but that's a different story).

A friend of mine here in AZ is putting the 3SGTE from his wrecked 93 MR2 Turbo into his AE86. :awe:

Err, A K20A is an entirely different motor than a KA24.

The OP is still an idiot. You wouldn't put a K20A in a Toyota. Use a 3SGTE or BEAMS 3S or another Toyota motor.

Some people do. And while I appreciate ingenuity and stuff, it still makes me die a little inside.

KA24DE (I have a 240 with a KA) in an AE86 is indeed goofy. I'd still probably take the AE86. That 240 looks to be in terrible dorifto condition.

and for one if you didnt know the OP Manimal is a very good mechanic/fab guy. so calling him and idiot is well pretty stupid. all the cars we've have seen him built have been nice. minus the fact his build threads are lacking. WE WANNA SEE THIS CRAP!

I'd go with whatever needs the least body work
that would probably be the ae86. I had my frame guy wince when I showed the S14. I could still tube it out and use fiberglass but it would never look right unless it was just. I was hoping the ripple would be pullable. Could still just make it a track car.

I loved both these cars LONG before osama bin diesel gave me nightmares about vtec.

come drive mine and ill change your mind!

Ya the rear looks bad. I can pick up the roller for 500 bucks. May still pick it up and part it. Would make me cry though.

Man if you think you could do take time away I would do it in a heartbeat. Do you think that s14 rear is toast?

Its actually a pretty easy swap and most guys that I know that have done it did it from a what they know perspective. Here in the midwest its alot harder for me to find a 3sgte and its alot cheaper to build a KA for guys like me than a 4age from a low hanging fruit perspective. I really fell in love with this AE because the suspension is DONE and could handle twice the power it has. People literally give away good KAs...

nice!! I have bought so many engines from a couple of wreckers here in town they let me get first dips on stuff. They havent had a good toy engine like that in years. They gave me the honda engine for 1000 which is a steal. I just happen to have those parts. If you could find me a 3sgte and bring it by I may be swayed lol

I know man one of my buddies said the same thing when I told him I wanted to put a honda engine into it ultimately. I just want to do something different. I totally want people to open the hood and say wtf! Im nuts im gonna put bmw vader seats in it too.

Other than the rear damage its alright and already setup for road racing. I hate seeing cars die thought and I have spent more than I should saving cars. Its getting a little harder to find S14s that arent half dead in the midwest.

yeah the S14 is pretty toasted unless you wanted to use it as a drift missile and dont really care about hitting something. then do like this bang it out and go at it again!

what the guy did is actually pretty cool and interesting. The S12 hood and some of the custom work this guy did really has a level of love to it. I am really hoping he takes my offer.

I wish I was as good as my guy evan when it comes to fabrication. The last time I welded an exhaust the guys went next door and bought tampons because they said I weld like a girl. Luckily my guy Evan was born with a mig in his hand. When hes done with my DSM manifold ill show you guys some pictures.

Sadly guys my content has been lacking because fate has been a little fickle. I have had issues finding good B mechanics. I have a master tech that is AMAZING and an amazing tinter but we have been crazy slammed trying to keep up with our jobs. I have a couple of customer car builds that I need to finish yesterday and I keep getting people needing maintence. Good problems to have but I have 3 year old triplets at home and a wife that gets PISSED if I miss family dinner.

I almost shut the shop down a few months ago because finding trustworthy people is very hard. Had a guy steal a few months ago and it broke my heart like fredo.....

Were almost done with the sr20 and the 4g63 stroker for my dsm so those should be on the road by spring. Hell the s13 may see the road this weekend.
