I just got in my new rig, but was planning on utilizing an old case. Now that I have it installed.. I'm not sure it is going to work properly. The 1283 is on a Biostar 790GX and faces towards the top of the case.. which I assume would be fine if I had a bottom mounted PSU and a blowhole fan. But I don't.. it is blowing up into the PSU fan.

Is this going to be okay, should I be looking at a new case? Are there AMD mobos where it would face out the back?

Please help :(

pretty sure all AM2 brackets for this force up or down orientation.

While one way to go would be to get a new case with bottom mount PSU and top exhaust, you can also try to mess around with your airflow...maybe point the heatsink so the fan is blowing down, set the rear fan to intake, the side to exhaust, and the front as exhaust. Basically reversing the standard concept of airflow.

Just an idea, but worth it to work with what you have before dropping cash on a new case.

Try it out, if you don't get a noticeably difference over the stock cooler then that may be the problem.
