s1156 already obsolete? Anything else new coming???

All sockets become obsolote when next generation of CPU's (new core design) arrive.

uh huh, just like am3 will become obsoleet when bulldozer arrives...oops, never mind. or am2 became obsolete with phenom...damnit, that's 0 fer 2 now.

When you get 1155, we will skip it and get the next socket by AMD or Intel in 2012 or whatever. See how that works? :D

SniperWulf, if you already have 1156, it may not make sense to upgrade to 1155. Get a new SSD or GPU instead.

Exactly. These "tics" come so frequently now that upgrading your hardware each time isn't necessary. My E8500 rig is still extremely strong, and the only thing is does noticeably worse than my i7 920 is multi-threaded encoding. And I'm thinking the i5 750 rig I built for my father will handle his requirements for years.
