S-Video vs. Component

Component video would be the best then S-Video. A friend brought over their XBOX and we plugged it into my Pioneer HDTV with Component video, awesome picture. I believe the main advantage is that Component video can scale to higher resolutions, S-Video is limited to 400 lines of resolution. I'm talking resolution on TV's now, not LCD or PC Monitors. I'd have to rate connections like this for TV's/HDTV's

1. DVI-D or DVI-I (barely available yet on TV's)
2. Component
3. S-Video
4. Composite

Visit Monster Cable website, they sell some good cables. I believe they even have a "Console Game" section and "PC" section.

I think he was talking about composite video (single component ) and Svideo wuld be better because the color channels are seperated.. however most people would not see the difference in the color vibrance..

No, I was talking about component. I understand that component is better for HDTV, but what about conventional? Would the difference in quality with component/s-video be as noticable?

No, it'd be pretty hard to see the difference on a regular analog TV. S-Video is a lot better than composite/RCA, but component won't be significantly better than S-Video.

Component is definitely better if you have an HDTV because S-Video can't carry a high reaolution digital signal.
