Hoping that I'm not asking a basic question but I've never really played around with this so here goes:

I am looking for a way to get svideo out of my comp to mirror the desktop and act as a second monitor and have an easy way to switch between the two. I know that its pretty easy to get svideo out to clone the desktop but I'm not sure of the second monitor option or switching.

Depending on which hardware you use, whether it will be under nview or hydraview settings. Both can be configured as a second monitor, under windows. You should be able to go under you video settings and see two monitor with the vga/dvi and s-video connections plugged in.
