S-video out to monitor?

I'm probably getting a DVD Hi-Fi (which can play DVD's) ans it has an s-video out. I don't have a Tv in my room, but might be able to get a small monitor possibly for free. Could I get an s-video/svga adapter so I can plug the Hi-Fi into the monitor and run it like that?
